Career Employment Program

“Providing tools and opportunity for students to reach their potential in the workplace.”

ABOUT THE CAREER EMPLOYMENT PROGRAM

Our program inspires students to develop a positive work ethic, learn responsibility, self-initiative, teamwork, professional behavior, communication, self-confidence, and social skills.

Students are supervised by professionally-trained job coaches that have all the required state educational clearances. Students receive a grade in work-based learning to earn credits towards their high school diplomas. Job coaches provide daily grades and constant feedback to school districts and teachers.

Program hours run from 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Students aged 14 to 21 can be scheduled at over 60 local participating businesses. They will learn valuable job skills in the following work settings:

‣ Retail
‣ Food service
‣ Business cleaning
‣ Auto body/vehicle detailing
‣ Manufacturing
‣ Maintenance
‣ Clerical

BHA’s Career Employment Classroom Program prepares students to successfully enter the workforce. Different lessons are covered each week ranging from different types of employment to job applications, banking skills, and how to be a valuable employee.

The Career Employment Program currently works with over 100 students and works alongside local school districts such as Lehighton, Jim Thorpe, Panther Valley, Palmerton, and Northern Lehigh.
